The Local Bar & Grill
About This Spot
Walking into The Local Bar & Grill on South Erwin Street in Cartersville feels like stepping into a comfortable neighborhood retreat where the pace slows just enough for genuine connection. The space has the unmistakable rhythm of a well-loved dive bar—relaxed, unpretentious, and inviting, the kind of place where familiar faces share laughter over cold drinks and newcomers quickly find their place among the hum of quiet conversations and the occasional cheer from the TV screens.
The atmosphere manages to hold a delicate balance between lively and laid-back. There’s a warmth that comes from simple, honest hospitality—a friendly nod from the bartender, a server who remembers your favorite drink, and that faint backdrop of background music mingling with the murmurs of local stories unfolding at the bar. It’s not a polished, flashy spot, but it’s exactly the kind of place where a group of friends can gather to celebrate milestones or quietly watch the game, feeling as at home as if they were on their own couch.
Food is part of the fabric here but never showy or fussy. The menu offers hearty, approachable fare that matches the atmosphere perfectly—wings with just the right balance of spice and seasoning, a burger that’s juicy without needing elaborate toppings, and comforting sides that keep things simple and satisfying. These aren’t just meals; they’re meals to share, paired with conversation and easy-going moments over a selection of canned sodas or a thoughtfully chosen cider.
What stands out most about The Local Bar & Grill is how it embraces the imperfect beauty of everyday life—a clean, unpretentious setting where you might experience a short delay on the game or catch a spontaneous burst of live music during open mic night. These little quirks only deepen its charm, creating a space where community feels tangible and enjoyable. Whether you’re here to celebrate a friend’s birthday, catch up with visitors, or simply unwind after a long day, this is a spot that feels quietly genuine and welcoming, a true reflection of Cartersville’s local spirit.

Very much a dive bar! They had a decent selection of bottled and canned beers and seltzers. Tried the lemon pepper wings which were a bit salty. Wasn’t offered dressing when I ordered. Good place to hang with some friends and have a beer for a moment. Very clean! This photo isn’t the greatest cause the lighting made taking a true to color photo difficult.

Great local bar. Wife and friends are in town for the night and stopped for a beer and good. Great bar food and Kenzie was helpful and friendly person. Would recommend to come here.

Burgers were great, flavorful and juicy. Disappointed they were out of fries, but the tater tots were good. The internet on the TV kept going out, so the football games were interrupted frequently. Service was decent, probably could have used another server to help the main one out, but she was nice and accommodating. Sodas come in cans, so no free refills.

Stumbled upon this place while visiting the area. Watched customers come in and total Cheers environment. Was fun to watch wished we lived in town to enjoy it more.

I had an urging for a burger and wings. Had seen online that The Local Bar and Grill had good wings so I figured I'd check them out. So I parked in the their parking lot and entered in there on that side. It's a small place so there's not a whole lot of seating to choose from. This day seemed to be pretty busy as every seat at the bar was full. The lady behind the bar was handling the whole place. Even with that...she did an excellent job. This is a bar so don't expect some nice fancy place. I've had bar food several times in several different places and it can range from blah to that's some good stuff I'll be back. Overall here...I'll be back! First off, the wings. I wanted their hottest sauce and.....they were out. So I went with the next best thing and it was called Hot Yaki. The sauce was very tasty. Sweet with a hint of spicy. The wings had a decent about of meatiness to them...a bit more compared to others around (even the wing places). Next up the burger and onion rings. The onion rings were perfectly cooked and had real onion in them. They were exactly what you want in an onion ring. Flavor was spot on. The burger I had bacon added. The burger again was great! Only draw back is it was a bit overcooked/charred. I had to knock the char off and then was perfect. The lady that was handling the whole place did great taking care of me and all the others. Everything I asked for she had to me within a minute or 2. She was very personable/friendly. Service is given lower rating due to the following information otherwise would have been 5 star service. I only had a couple of actual hang-ups. The burger and onions rings should have been $10 according plus $1 for bacon. They charged $9.95 for the burger and then charged $.50 for bacon and $.50 for cheese (cheese was supposed to be part of the $10). Effectively, that part was about the same (technically $.05 cheaper). The wings were supposed to be $8 for 5 wings, they charged $9. So here, they are charging $1 more than what's listed on the menu. Add on top of that as a fee for non-cash transaction (unknown about), then that adds another $2 to your total. Additionally, they do not offer a military discount.
